A growing U.S. economy is good news for the commercial trucking industry, which ships the majority of goods that are moved across the country.
The truck industry is in need of thousands of newly trained drivers to help meet the growing demand, especially as the economy continues to grow.
“The U.S. economy climbed 3.9 percent in the third quarter of 2014, growing more quickly than originally estimated thanks to a boost in consumer spending,” reported The Hill last month. “The upward revision came as a bit of a surprise, as many analysts had anticipated the government would report a slight decline from its first estimate of third quarter growth. The Bureau of Economic Analysis reported in October that the economy grew 3.5 percent in the third quarter of the year.”
Increases in manufacturing, construction and consumer spending should lead to increased shipping in the commercial truck industry, which will mean there will be more opportunities for those jobseekers with CDL training from a respected school like Hamrick School.
If you are looking for a reason to be confident in the future of the trucking industry look no further than continued news reports that the economy is growing at a steady pace.
“The new data is the latest in a series of positive news about the economy, which grew 4.6 percent in the second quarter of the year,” The Hill added. “The jobless rate has steadily fallen for much of the year. The unemployment rate now stands at 5.8 percent, its lowest level since 2008.”
Recent economic growth has helped the nation rebound from the 2008 recession.
“Since the financial crisis, the U.S. economy has bounced back more strongly than most others around the world, and the recent data highlight that the United States is continuing to lead the global recovery,” said Jason Furman, chairman of the president’s Council of Economic Advisers.
Furman again reiterated that the White House believes the dismal first quarter economic decline was due to temporary factors like severe weather. He also noted that the national saving rate rose in the third quarter, continuing a trend of increased reserves since the financial crisis.
“These changes put the U.S. economy in a more sustainable position for the future, including helping to reduce America’s borrowing from the rest of the world,” he said.
The government said the acceleration of economic growth in the latest estimate is thanks to stronger numbers on consumer spending, as well as government spending at the federal and state level, The Hill added.
More good news for the trucking industry is that consumer spending is up, which will lead to retail growth and continued demand for the shipment of retail goods.
“Consumer spending was up 2.2 percent in the third quarter, compared to 2.5 percent in the second,” The Hill added. “And government spending at the federal level jumped 9.9 percent whereas it had fallen 0.9 percent in the second. Imports, which subtract from the nation’s gross domestic product, were also down 0.7 percent. However, so were exports, which increased 4.9 percent compared to 11.1 percent in the second quarter.”
Carriers all across the country are desperately looking for more commercial truck drivers, but they especially need those drivers with professional training and those that have completed a respected driver’s training program, like the one at Hamrick.
Many applicants that have completed a professional CDL training program are finding that they are at the front of the line for some of the best truck driving jobs available.
Drivers that enter the trucking industry without professional training don’t last long. They can quickly become overwhelmed and are unable to meet the daily challenges that a truck driver faces. However, those with training from Hamrick are fully prepared to meet those challenges and are given the skills necessary to find long-term and satisfying employment as a commercial truck driver.
The difficulty in finding drivers to fill vacant positions is that carriers need drivers with professional training. There is a shortage of skilled drivers in America and that is why schools like Hamrick is a great opportunity for job-seekers. In a matter of months students can receive some of the best CDL training available and are often able to find a job quickly after graduating from the program.
